Programme Overview
Procurement and supply chain management has emerged as a distinct field to meet the needs of the growing global supply chain. The development of this programme was inspired by demands from industry and the public sector. This programme represents the outcome of a close and productive collaboration with a number of industry partners locally and internationally, to develop human resource with competencies and skills in supply chain operations. With projections that global supply chain activities will continue to expand and integrate new technologies and practices, supply chain management has become an increasingly attractive career path for today’s business students. Training of professionals in Procurement and supply chain Management will help improve the procurement process which will result in wealth creation, poverty reduction, private sector development, good governance and fighting corruption.
The passage of the Procurement Act has ushered in the creation of new institutions, structures, regulations, methods, procedures, approved levels and thresholds for undertaking procurement activity in both the public and private sectors. Consequently, it has become evident that there are inadequate trained and developed procurement professionals who will be able to meet the immense challenges and sustain the system in the long run. The Procurement and Supply Chain Management programme will, therefore, provide the needed human resource capacity to fill this gap.
